Policy DBC4: Development in the Green Belt
The Green Belt is shown on the Policies Map. The Green Belt will continue to be protected to maintain its openness and permanence.Development proposals in the Green Belt will be determined against principles set out in Core Policy 13: The Oxford Green Belt in the adopted Vale of White Horse Local Plan Part One. Proposals for inappropriate development will not be supported except in very special circumstances.- Should development proposals utilise land which has been identified as ‘Grey Belt’ in accordance with national policy and guidance or the development plan, the relevant Cumnor Neighbourhood Plan design policies, including Character Assessment and design guidance, must be used to guide the design of their schemes and only introduce new character traits not currently seen if there is a clear reason to do so. The use of urban or suburban design elements must be avoided.

provides a local iteration of national and local Green Belt policy. It recognises the importance of the Green Belt to the neighbourhood area. The settlement of Cumnor is inset in the Green Belt. In these circumstances proposed development within the existing built area of the village will be determined in accordance with Core Policies 3 and 4 of the Vale of White Horse Local Plan Part and any other specific policies which may affect development in the Conservation Area.makes it clear that the design of any developments on land identified as Grey Belt should accord with the Plan’s design policies, including character assessments and design guidance, to avoid damage to areas that have a distinctive local character.
